About

Hello hello and welcome! My name is Eric and I’m an LA-based film composer who graduated this year from USC’s Screen Scoring Master’s program. I’ve composed music for 68 short films, recording 52 of my soundtracks in spaces such as USC's John Williams Scoring Stage, UCLA’s scoring stage, and EastWest Studios in Hollywood.

In March 2024, a director and I bought the cheapest plane tickets to travel to Budapest, where I conducted a 59-piece orchestra with Budapest Scoring for an upcoming musical theater short film. I’ve since recorded with them for two more film scores, including a Wild West drama and another musical theater score. Some standout recording sessions include a 17-musician big band and a 34-piece ensemble featuring 10 French horn players and 11 water bottle blowers, recorded in the George Lucas Lobby at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts for its distinct reverb.

In September 2023, I was the composer-in-residence for the Jackson Symphony, where my 16-minute orchestral piece The Odyssey premiered during their opening night concert.

As a collaborator, I love being inspired by my conversations and feedback with directors, and I’m good at responding to texts and emails.

To record 37 musicians for a score, I individually texted and Instagram DM’d students from USC and UCLA until I built that orchestra. To record Japanese drums, I found a campus ensemble, drummed with them, and recruited three players. For a musical short, the student director and I bought the cheapest plane tickets and flew to Europe, where I conducted a 59-musician orchestra.

For a Depression-era drama, I found a free piano on Facebook Marketplace and modified it with nails and screws. A recent score I did was about two Chinese grandmas going on a wild road trip. For this, I blended traditional Chinese and Mongolian instruments with hip-hop elements to create a Wild West-inspired soundtrack.

All of this is to say, if we get to collaborate, I’ll be an advocate for your film and find musicians, spaces, and things to record to give your score a unique sound!

Best,

Eric
